ASEAN-EU Workshop on FP7 Proposal in Hanoi, 21-22 May 2009
Following on from and in connection with the Ankara-Bonn workshop on the establishment of Seventh Framework Programme Contact Points in ASEAN partner countries, a workshop was organised in Hanoi, which provided an opportunity to policy makers and scientists from SEA countries to be informed about FP7, and discuss and create a workable platform of NCP/NIPs in the South East Asia region.
The workshop had the following aims:
i) To strengthen wide and effective dissemination of necessary information on the European Union Seventh Framework (FP7) to the regional scientific communities of ASEAN;
ii) To encourage the application of highly-qualified proposals into FP7 from International Cooperation Partner Countries (ICPC), especially from ASEAN’s researchers by sharing experiences in networking experts and writing eligible proposals;
iii) To share experiences from the policy-making level on supporting mechanism for local researchers to more actively participate in FP7;
iv) To strengthen the network among National Contact Points (NPCs) and National Information Points (NIPs) of EU and ASEAN member states.
During the workshop, researchers and policy makers shared experiences on how to formulate good proposals and facilitate the participation of the scientific and technological communities in FP7. There was also an overall presentation of including necessary requirements, opportunities and challenges for non-EU countries when applying for FP7.
