SEA-EU-NET SWOT workshop during ASEAN COST meeting

Bali, 25 to 29 May 2009

SEA-EU-NET organised a SWOT workshop during the recent ASEAN COST meeting in Bali to identify strengths and weaknesses of bi-regional cooperation between researchers in Europe and South East Asia.

Scientists and policy-makers from ASEAN countries were invited to a number of focus groups to exchange views and discuss what they saw as the major challenges and opportunities for collaboration. Among the issues discussed were examples of good practices, difficulties in finding the right partners and governmental, EU and ASEAN policies to improve scientific cooperation.

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Science will be presenting the preliminary findings from the SWOT analysis during the SEA-EU-NET Stakeholder Conference on 11 and 12 November 2009 in Bogor, Indonesia.
