Call for Franco-Singaporean Projects: The 2009 MERLION Programme
The MERLION programme, launched in December 2005 by the Science and Higher Education Section of the Embassy of France in Singapore, is an initiative conducted in collaboration with Singaporean research institutions in the areas of science and technology. It is based on the following principles:
an open and a clear procedure in the call for projects or candidates
scientific evaluation of the proposals
transparency of action among French & Singaporean partners
co-funding
MERLION provides support for joint scientific and technological projects and encourages the formation of Franco-Singaporean research laboratories such as IPAL, SONDRA or Thales@NTU.
The 2009 MERLION Call for Projects was issued on 20th May 2009 by A*STAR, TLL, NUS, NTU, SMU, NNI and the Embassy of France in Singapore. Other Singaporean organisations involved in research activities keen to be partners in this programme are invited to contact the French Embassy for more information.
Project proposals to be submitted must be part of a larger Franco-Singaporean research effort whose focus must meet the scientific priorities set by Singapore and France.
Each project submission will be evaluated on an individual basis by both the relevant Singaporean institutions and the French Ministry of Education and Research. An existing working relationship between the French and Singaporean partners in the team is not a pre-requisite for the submission of projects but is considered to be an advantage.
The deadline for the submission of project proposals is 31 July 2009 at 5 pm (Paris time).
The evaluation of the proposals will be carried out between 1st August 2009 and end of October 2009. The results will be made known in November 2009. Each project leader will be informed of the outcome.
