European analysis of SEA-EU R&D cooperation
Yesterday, 21 September, SEA-EU-NET held an expert workshop on best opportunities and potential pitfalls in science and technology cooperation between Southeast Asia and the EU (see also our calendar). The event was organised and hosted by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and took place in its historical headquarters in the centre of Amsterdam, the "Trippenhuis".
With this workshop, SEA-EU-NET obtained information and advice from a number of selected distinguished experts (both researchers and policy analysts) from European countries. The workshop was a "mirror" event of an expert workshop with Southeast Asian scientists and policy makers held in May 2009 in Bali back-to-back to the ASEAN COST Meeting.
Using methods like focus groups and face-to-face interviews, valuable data could be gathered in both workshops and will be analysed by the SEA-EU-NET project partners, resulting in a policy recommendation paper for the European Commission.
